The Message of the Founder President
In response to a call of conscience, I just collected a bunch of children of construction workers who had never seen the inside of a school and started interacting with them on a daily basis so that they could not only learn the 3 Rs but also become more aware beings. This individual modest effort of teaching and feeding a little bit from my own modest resources 40-45 children at any given time under the trees on the vacant lot in front of my residence continued for at least seven years before I thought last year of forming a Society, getting it registered, roping in more like- minded and well- meaning people as members and patrons who could chip in with funds and even their time and energy so that more such children could be tangibly benefited. And so the march continues, with one of the Literacy Centers running near my residence in a room loaned to us by the Ex-Sainik Society,Sector49, Faridabad, and the other having been opened at the local DAV Centenary College, where I teach for a living, a couple of months back with the support of the college administration. Three teachers have been engaged to help me with this work. This year the Society has put five promising children in Class IV and V respectively into a CBSE affiliated school which happens to be at their doorstep. These children whose education is being sponsored by a local 31 Sector- based IT company named Damco Software Solutions, are being rendered every support and help by me and a selfless retired lady school teacher. To cope with the challenges of good quality formal education Computer is being extensively used in both the Literacy Centers to show the learners interesting educational CDs. A small dedicated band of college teachers, college going students and working young men have also come forward to interact with the children, to play games with them and to take them through the paces of drawing and colouring. Guided by this band of dedicated workers, the children of the Sainik Colony Centre have performed a dance drama on stage in two different educational institutions, one of them being my college.
Since I dream of opening more such Literacy Centres in and around Faridabad, of converting the Sainik Colony Centre into a decent Primary School with full time teachers for these children and of putting more and more bright students among them into good schools for further studies, you can always come out with your support and contribution in the way you deem proper if you feel for the cause.
Looking forward to your invaluable help and support.
